Tidbits / Ideas

If you have an idea that you would like to share with others in the Elizabeth Project, please leave a comment below and we will post it on this page.

Blessing list:  Keep a little diary, or include in your prayer journal, a list of the day’s blessings.  For instance, “thank you God for helping me find a good parking place (it was raining – again), thank you for helping me find my keys, thank you for the encouraging note from my friend”, etc.  Listing these blessings, and reviewing them at the end of the week, help us see God’s presence and provision in our everyday lives.

A mentor shared how she and her mentee put together a list of things they have always wanted to do, for example:  read a certain book, accomplish a certain goal, travel, skydive, learn a new skill etc.  They would share this list with each other and then ask at various times during the year if they were able to check off anything on their list.

I just heard of a mentor who invited her mentee over for lunch and they looked at the pictures of this year’s Elizabeth Project launch and viewed this blog site together.

Find out your mentor/mentees favorite things!  Examples:  coffee, color, flower, candy, food, book, etc. and then surprise them at some time with a goodie and a card.

Shoebox:  Fill a shoebox or basket with items and pictures that represent you.  This can include:  family pictures, things you like, things you like to do, any item that would help your mentor/mentee get to know you better.  Then get together and share what is in each of your boxes!  This is a fun way to quickly get to know each other!

  1. Loved the shoebox activity! It’s a fun way to quickly discover those unique details, experiences and preferences that shape us! I did it last year and will do it again this year with my new mentee!
